AWAY from football netball games, farmers are doing it tough but Worksafe ambassadors Andrew Walker and Peter Knights were doing their best to put a smile on the faces of everybody on Sunday at Lake Boga.
As part of a presentation from Worksafe and an event held by AFL Victoria Country, Carlton star Walker and Hawthorn legend Knights were on hand to interact with locals and toss the coin for the match between the Magpies and Woorinen.
Echuca native Walker said he was honoured to be able to visit local leagues and interact with fans of the code and Carlton.
“I am really enjoying talking to everyone, it is really enjoyable for me,” he said.
“I grew up going to games like this and I was apart of things like this as a kid. It gives me a chance to watch some footy in the country and its for a good cause and lots of fun.
“It sort of feels the same to me as when I was younger, I come to the games and know a lot of people … sit on the boundary and watch the games, having a chat with people’s parents with guys I played with when I was 16.”
