Doing it for the kids

THE community has rallied together for the children of Jo and Michael Glare, who died in a car accident north-west of Melbourne at the weekend.

The death of Jo and Michael Glare, who were killed when their car crashed into a tree along the Midland Highway early Saturday morning at Daylesford, has brought about an overwhelming response from the community in support of the Glare’s four children.

Members of the Swan Hill Darts League, which Jo and Michael had been involved in for 25 years, are holding a Glare Family Fundraiser at the Beverford Tavern from 6pm tonight to raise money for the children.

Glare Family Fundraiser organiser Kirsty Thompson said that the death of Jo and Michael was a tragic loss for the community.

“The response has been overwhelming, I have never been so proud to be a part of a community,” Mrs Thompson said.

“There very well could be a couple of hundred people (attending the fundraiser at Beverford this evening).

“Our aim is to help the kids immediately… for the power bill that has to be paid next week, or for the rent that has to be paid next week.

“It started off with just a barbeque but we are now having an auction due to the generosity (of supporters).”
