THE Coalition will “limp over the line” to become the 45th Parliament of Australia according to re-elected Member for Mallee Andrew Broad.
With a number of key seats still hanging in the balance the verdict is still out on which party will form government when counting resumes tomorrow.
But while we are still waiting to find out how the election will pan out on a national scale, locally the results are clearer. With 80 per cent of the votes in the Mallee electorate counted at time of print, Swan Hill and district residents will be represented by Mr Broad for the next three years.
Mr Broad received 71.6 per cent of the vote after preferences and said he was eager to continue building on his work of the past three years.
“I think the endorsement we got was proof that’s what people are looking for in Members of Parliament — people who work very solidly with a servant-type attitude, not any sort of arrogance,” he said.
“And that’s translated to another opportunity to serve.”
