Swan Hill goes to ‘catch ’em all’

A SPIKE in people visiting the gym has been noticed over the past week, with wannabe Ash Ketchum’s catching and training Pokémon from their smartphones.

Swan Hill could not escape the Pokémon Go revolution as Riverside Park became a new kind of play area for many dedicated trainers.

The game is a dream come true for many like Swan Hill’s Zac den Houting, realising their childhood dreams of chasing down and taming everything from a Pikachu to a Rapidash; but no reports have been made to The Guardian about a Mewtwo sighting as of yet.

With a group of mates, the world’s newest trainer heads around town to locate the best beasts to add to his collection as he looks to score a Pokémon from every evolution set.

Hooked up with phone chargers, the gang head to key markers on the map, known as PokeStops, to collect new items and set lures to attract the virtual cartoons to their location.

A nostalgic den Houting, remembering a childhood of watching Pokémon on television, said he was ecstatic when the app was first launched, heading out as late as 1am catching them all.
