HARRY Scott is a young man with a passion for history and aviation.
At just 16 years of age he already has a clear vision for his future and a genuine interest in the past — which helped him secure an all-expenses paid overseas trip to Vietnam in September.
The St Mary MacKillop College Year 11 student learnt about the contest, which focused on the Vietnam War, through his history teacher.
The teenager decided this would be the perfect opportunity to write about his two interests.
“I’ve always been interested in history, especially wars,” he said.
“Once I started looking into the Vietnam War it was a real eye-opener, and hard to believe it went on.”
Harry submitted a 1000 word essay in the state-wide competition which was held for students in Year 10 and 11.
The focus of his work was the controversy surrounding the Vietnam War.
