A night with Danger and Murph

SWAN Hill residents were treated to a Night with Murph and Danger, with a packed out Rio Vista Receptions greeting AFL stars Patrick Dangerfield and Robert Murphy.

The duo made their way to the Heart Of The Murray to share stories and tales from their lives as elite footballers, a night many are sure to remember.

Both players were greeted by local fans of both the Geelong Cats and Western Bulldogs, before taking their seats up on stage.

Speaking to The Guardian, Dangerfield and Murphy were really excited about the chance to do a midseason trip.

“You don’t get the chance in season all too often, and people in the country don’t always get the access to different sporting events due to location, so it is good to be here,” Dangerfield said.

“Rural communities can do it super hard and this country was built on that hard work, so it is really good to meet locals, have a bit of a laugh and enjoy the night with them.”

Bulldog Murphy agreed with his Cat counterpart, saying he jumped at the chance to come to the region.

“I have been up a few times, not for a few years now, but it is nice to get the country air,” he said.

“We are both country blokes so I guess there is a sense of coming home, we are up for a fun night and hopefully everyone has a good time and it will do something good for Swan Hill.

“These are pretty rare events. I know a few a people up here, they are great people. I had plans to get out to some local matches…but I didn’t make it out there.”

With the evening a success, Murphy said he wanted to “take it nationally. If we can sell out Broome, we could hit the Asian market”.

Dangerfield was disappointed former teammate and Adelaide Crows forward Josh Jenkins wasn’t in the area.

“I am disappointed the mayor Josh Jenkins isn’t here, he tells me everything in Swan Hill is run through him and that he is the most famous export,” he said.
