WITH all of the fanfare surrounding Olympians at this year’s Rio Olympic Games, people often forget about the most important people standing behind them.
Annette Lavey still can’t get over the fact she can now call her daughter an Olympian — at just 23 years of age.
But it hasn’t been easy for the family, with everyone making sacrifices to put Tessa on her rise towards becoming the Perth Lynx captain and an Olympic level point guard for Australia.
With a possibility her daughter would be heading to Rio, Annette did everything she could behind the scenes to make sure she was ready to head to the biggest sporting party of the year, getting her injections and filling in her paperwork.
After last month’s team announcement Annette and Tessa’s boyfriend Lincoln Frost booked their tickets, and are ready to depart on Sunday.
And Annette still can’t quite grasp the whole situation.
