BULOKE Shire Council has the worst ambulance response time for critically sick and injured patients in the state, according to Ambulance Victoria’s (AV) latest response time figures for the past 12 months.
Buloke Shire Council mayor Reid Mather said ratepayers and constituents’ lives are being put on the line as a result, as the council fights for equal services for residents in the fifth largest LGA by square kilometres in Victoria.
The 2015/16 financial year average response time of 25 minutes and 31 seconds was slightly better than the previous year but well outside the 15-minute target.
During the same period, 32.1 per cent of code 1 ambulance call-outs in Buloke were attended within 15 minutes, up from 29.1 per cent in 2014/15, but well below the State Government’s stated target of 85 per cent.
