Lost ferret finds home

A FERRET made the trip of a lifetime through Swan Hill last week, doing its best Disney movie impersonation as it walked 2km from its house.

Little Pinky startled his owners when he went missing last Monday, leaving behind his two pregnant partners, named CC and Tiny.

Pinky’s giant adventure was abruptly halted when a woman, fearing for his safety, picked him up.

He was placed in a cage and left on a Gray Street footpath with a sign appealing for the owner to collect the beloved pet.

The Guardian stepped in and circulated the image, allowing owner Jaymee Hare to find her little guy.

She said he made the dash out of his cage when someone left the door open.

“One of the kids was playing with him when he got out and then the lady put him in his cage and we saw it (on Facebook) and picked him up,” she said.

“He was a little hot when we got him but we fixed him up and gave him a bath.

“We were worried about him, the kids are very attached to him. I think he is happy being back, it’s nice and cool.

“They are unusual pets but are very fun.”

Pinky’s adventure may over for now, but he will not soon forget his trip around Swan Hill.

Swan Hill Rural City Council also reaffirmed lost animals should be taken to the correct authorities.

If it’s a domestic animal or livestock call the council’s regulatory services staff on 5036 2346.

For wildlife, residents should call the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) on 5036 4800.
