A young woman with “her whole life ahead of her” was killed when her car smashed into a tree on Pental Island, near Swan Hill on Friday.
Police said Swan Hill beauty therapist Jaiden Cottingham, 22, lost control of her car on a bend on Pental Island Road, between Caelli Lane and Fish Point Road, shortly after 4pm.
She was the only person in the car.
Swan Hill highway patrol Senior Constable Neal Leach said the Holden Commodore was travelling east when it crossed to the wrong side of the road and travelled down a grass slope before ploughing into a tree.
“The last thing the parents of a young woman want to do is identify their loved one in tragic circumstances,” Sen-Constable Leach said.
