The Victorian Government has urged its federal counterpart to give Goulburn-Murray Water more time to complete the troubled irrigation modernisation project.
It comes after the rural water supplier completed a $10 million winter works program last month, capped off by a $35 million capital expenditure program during 2015/16.
Water Minister Lisa Neville halted the $2 billion Connections scheme late last year after an independent mid-term review found it wasn’t going to be finished on time or on budget.
Following community consultation in the region in the past three months, the project has since been reset, with Ms Neville to visit the region next month to advise on the reset project’s timeline, with about $350 million left and half the work still to do.
