A NEW local band is about to make its debut when it hits the pub scene tonight at The Swan Hill Club.
The Links are a young group whose musical focus falls into modern rock/pop punk and fans may recognise some of the group from their previous work.
Shannon Bishop is 17 and formerly the lead singer of successful local band Yung Gunz.
She picks up the role of lead vocals again but this time has added rhythm guitar to her repertoire.
Seventeen year-old Callum McNab also from Yung Gunz takes his place on stage as lead guitarist.
Joining them are 20 year-old drummer Jack Harvey and 15 year-old Brett Arblaster on bass.
Jack has experience playing with another local band 7 Car Pileup while The Links is Brett’s official first band.
Shannon said the band’s music probably suited people of similar ages to them, citing Green Day, The Living End and Blink182 as some of their song covers.
But she also said there will be a mix of the classic pub rock songs thrown in such as My Sharona and Summer of ’69.
“The music will be faster and something people can get up and dance to,” she said.
“It will have more of a punk aspect to it.”
