SWAN Hill Secondary College is one of 100 schools across the state who will have a doctor visit in a bid to ensure students get the health care they need.
More than 70,000 students state-wide will have access to a visiting GP up to one day per week as part of an election commitment by the Victorian Government under a new initiative Doctors in Secondary Schools.
The objective of the 44 million dollar program is to make health care more accessible to students, ensure early intervention of health issues and to reduce pressure on working parents and community based GP’s.
In a positive move for regional Victoria, more than half of the schools selected for the program are regional where families may face barriers in accessing healthcare.
