Apple fans await launch

APPLE aficionados will be able to get their hands on the newest versions of the iPhone from Friday, with the product set to launch locally.

Optus Swan Hill franchisee David McNabb said Apple had made the iPhone 7 and 7Plus models waterproof and dustproof by removing the headphone jack.

“Now you have to listen through Bluetooth or Lightning headphones and there is an adaptor that comes with the phone,” he said.

“It’s a good move on that behalf, given the way people have their phones with them at all times.”

Mr McNabb said buyers would appreciate the phones’ increased battery.

“The iPhone 7Plus has an even longer battery life by 40 per cent,” he said.

“There are also two new colours — black and jet black.

Mr McNabb said the phones were almost exactly the same size while the 7Plus has two cameras to increase digital and optical zoom and clarity in low light situations.

“Swan Hill Optus store has a launch party at 9am Friday,” he said.

“There are a few deals going on, some giveaways and first access to stock.

“Some models are already sold out until November.

“If you don’t go to the launch you might miss out until November.”
