FARMERS yesterday gave mixed responses to the record rainfall that has descended upon Swan Hill and the surrounding district.
The weather bureau has already recorded more than double its average September figure at the Swan Hill Aerodrome.
Dryland farmers were revelling in the recent downpours and are looking forward to another possible 50mm next week.
Ultima farmer Geoff Nalder reported 90mm on his property and said he was happy with it.
“It’s not doing any harm, that’s for certain and it’s nice to have free water” Mr Nalder said.
“Another 50mm next week will take us into unchartered waters though. I don’t know what that will mean because we’ve never experienced this sort of rainfall before.”
Another dryland farmer, Chris Weir recorded 65mm this week at his Berriwillock property and 28mm the week before.
He said the rainfall was positive and wouldn’t mind more next week.
