The region’s young voices can now be heard louder after Youth Affairs Council of Victoria’s (YACVic) new rural office in Swan Hill was opened this week.
The new $500,000 service will connect and support young people in the Swan Hill region — especially those experiencing disadvantage — with schooling, getting a job and making their voices heard in the community.
During a visit to Swan Hill on Wednesday, Youth Affairs Minister Jenny Mikakos spoke to a group of about 50 youths and youth sector workers at a forum about issues affecting young people — mental health, education and social interaction and engagement.
The government funded close to $1 million over two years to YACVic to establish two new regional offices in Swan Hill and Warrnambool.
