The SES have released an moderate category flood warning for the Lower Loddon River.
The Loddon River at the Murray Valley Highway Bridge in Kerang has a minor flood level of 77.0 metres; it is currently at 76.13m and rising.
The river is expected to peak at that location above the minor flood level during the weekend as heavy rains set in.
The river at downstream Loddon Weir is currently at 4.47m with minor flood level 3.30m and falling.
The Loddon River at Appin South is currently around the moderate flood level of 3.10m and rising; it is expected to peak around 3.20m during late Thursday or Friday with heavy rains expected on Thursday morning.
Authorities are warning residents that when flood waters rise above 77.40m, properties may start to become isolated to the north and south of Kerang.
They also warn that some rural properties west of the Loddon Valley Highway in the Canary Island and Appin South areas may become isolated.
Side roads east of the Boort-Kerang Road to Loddon Valley Highway are beginning to become impassable and this may continue over the next few days.
Water is expected to be contained within the river system and its adjacent banks through Kerang.
This situation should continue as water moves downstream to Benjeroop and Murrabit, where the peak is expected late next week.

Authorities are advising residents to listen to local radio, visit the SES website or call the SES hotline (132 500) for more information and advice.
If the situation is life-threatening, please call 000.
They also ask for residents to look out for neighbours who may need help during the flood.
When driving near floodwaters, the SES asks for people to be vigilant to any traffic hazards such as mud or debris that may be washed onto the road.
They also stress that it is crucial to never drive through floodwaters as it’s never possible to tell how deep they will go.
