One of Swan Hill council’s most experienced incumbents believes his heart is in the municipality’s biggest ward by geography despite residing in another ward.
Cr Gary Norton, who was first elected onto council in 2003, said he was proud to represent the rural communities and townships in the Murray-Mallee Ward, which covers Nyah, Nyah West.
“Win, lose or draw, I will continue to attend community meetings and ensure the best interests of my ward are met,” Cr Norton told The Guardian.
“I have a really strong focus on value adding and creating more employment for our young people.
“We have had businesses looking around previously, and with the hay compression plant at Ultima, we could attract similar industries in Piangil or Manangatang.”
