The men and women who don the blue and risk their lives are walking a very different fine line.
The Swan Hill branch of the Blue Ribbon Foundation runs the risk of having to cancel its major fundraising event for the year unless ticket sales for its ball don’t improve.
The Blue Ribbon Ball will celebrate its 10th anniversary at Swan Hill Town Hall on Saturday, October 22.
Held every second year, this year’s ball will feature Melbourne band The Baker Boys.
Chairman of the Swan Hill branch, Leading Senior Constable Nik Probyn, said funds from the ball go towards the upkeep and purchase of new equipment to maintain the Robert Lane Resuscitation Unit at Swan Hill District Health.
Detective Senior Constable Lane was killed on July 13, 1979, after he want to a Kyalite address, 60km north of Swan Hill, to make enquiries about a stolen car.
