A former Swan Hill aerobatic pilot, who was among the first Australians to feature at a Chinese airshow last year will provide a local twist at next year’s 75th anniversary of Lake Boga’s Flying Boat Repair Depot.
Glenn Graham confirmed with The Guardian last week that he will fly alongside renowned airshow pilot Paul Bennet from the Paul Bennet Airshow Team at the festival on March 17-19.
The museum, a Lake Boga Lions Club project, is a memorial to those who worked on the flying boats during World War II at the No. 1 Flying Boat Repair Depot.
“I was never really interested in flying straight and level. I found it quite a bore but I enjoyed riding along as my old man would throw the PA-28 around while streamer cutting,” Mr Graham said.
He recently flew at air displays in Papua New Guinea, South Korea and, in the past two months, was the headline act at four airshows in China, performing in front of more than one million spectators.
“I grew up admiring greats such as Kirby Chambliss and Jurgis Kairys. To now be working alongside them has been a bit of a childhood dream,” he said.
