Patterson smashes ton

RSL are firming as early season favourites after a ton from coach Stuart Patterson saw Swan Hill fall in 33.2 overs in the Swan Hill and District Cricket Association’s second round.

With a total of 103 off the bat, Patterson has helped lift his side to the big with seven sixes and eight fours, but a solid 44 runs also came from Tom McGregor in the innings.

Patterson would be the only wicket Swan Hill could nab, with an Arnold Kirby delivery hit in the air as Jack Luffman made the catch.

McGregor and Brenton Caldwell were still on fire when RSL beat Swan Hill’s total of 170.

The strong performance with the willow was backed up with the ball as RSL found seven wickets for their troubles.

Jack Cook felled three batsmen finishing the match with 3-48 off seven overs.

Thomas Lister was a stand out for the Swans with 69 runs helping his side to 170 from their 40 overs.

He was backed up by captain Mark Thomson who scored 31 runs after opening the day for his side.

After two rounds, RSL currently sit in top spot ahead of St Mary’s Tyntynder.

Ultima TUF were defeated by St Mary’s Tyntynder after the latter managed to find 147 runs.

It was a tough day for the RooDogs who were bowled all out for just 87 runs.

Nyah District are back on track in their premiership defence with a win over Woorinen.

The premiers finished with 8-149, after keeping Woorinen to 9-145.

Both sides performed well in the match, but it was the District side who took the spoils.
