A Moulamein resident is worried someone might be seriously injured in the future after the small town’s evacuation order was lifted on Wednesday afternoon.
Some evacuated the area, but a large group of residents chose to stay, not heeding the advice of the authorities.
Local China Gibson was left fuming after hearing of the New South Wales State Emergency Service (SES) decision to revoke the evacuation, claiming “people will die when they need to evacuate for real” as he believes the town was never under threat.
While the town is no longer at risk from flooding, the SES has put into effect an evacuation warning for properties to the south of Nyang Street, Moulamein.
Townspeople in the NSW community were vocally against the evacuation order in the first place but the SES maintains it made its decision based off the most up-to-date information at hand.
NSW SES media spokesman Todd Burns said too many variables were at play and a decision had to be made.
