Street machines of all classes and models rolled into Swan Hill yesterday before more than 100 vintage glorified beasts roared into Chisholm Reserve for the 2016 Street Machine Drag Challenge.
The Swan Hill drag strip was the next stop for the challenge, with 110 cars racing one another at five tracks over five days.
The challenge began on Monday at Calder Park with racers completing multiple laps before heading to the next destination.
The cars competed at Heathcote on Tuesday before travelling to north-west Victoria to Mildura’s Sunset Strip yesterday. Today, the cars returned to Calder after 1500kms.
Organiser Scott Taylor said it’s the ultimate endurance test for street cars.
“All cars must be street registered and if they break anything it must be fixed on the road. As soon as it’s put on the trailer they are out of the race,” he said.
“It’s a great event for the country towns because we can raise some money and competitors stay overnight at each town.

The Swan Hill Drag Racing Club will host its inaugural race meeting on November 26 and 27 at the new drag strip after its scheduled October debut was postponed because of wet conditions.
