AN experienced horse trainer and polo player is passing his knowledge onto the next generation at his Pental Island farm, allowing students to work with his animals as they aspire to become jockeys or trainers in the future.
With more than 50 years experience, Collin Fletcher has put 15-year-old Rhiann O’Meara through her paces across the past two years, setting her up for a future in the racing industry.
The youngster is following in the foot steps of her older sister Shanae who is currently working in the Swan Hill stables with the likes of Austy Coffey and Con Kelly.
The school based apprenticeship has seen Rhiann kick goals as she learns how to work, ride and understand horses on another level.
