THE Swan Hill Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club have officially opened three new hard tennis courts.
The new facility and lights were officially opened at the weekend, celebrating the ability to play tennis year round.
Murray Plains member Peter Walsh said it was a great facility the town should be proud of.
“They can now practice and play all year, this is a great facility for the town and if you look at the drone fly over, its a real credit to everyone,” he said.
“You can play in all weather which means anyone can do it when they want it, which makes the courts important.
“Look at the kids, that is what is is about. Mum and Dad can play, the kids play and the extra courts help out.”
Swan Hill Tennis president Peter Morrison said the courts could add another element of game play to players.
“We have the most grass courts of any club in Australia but the hard courts just add another dimension as lots of ranking tournaments are on the hard courts,” he said.
“They need to train on those courts and it allows our coach to train later with the lights as well.”
