Jeremy Forbes is “bothered” by the “macho men” culture that exists in the trades industry.
“I have spent 25 years in the trade industry as a painter and decorator and suffered the highs, lows, good and the bad in the building industry,” he said.
Mr Forbes, who has mild depression, co-founded HALT (Hope, Assistance, Local Tradies) in late 2013.
He is coming to Swan Hill this morning to break the stereotype that tradies are just as tough as the projects they work on.
HALT aims to build a bridge between existing support services for people at risk of suicide and the local community.
Employees from all trades are encouraged to a “take a mate” to SuniTAFE from 8am to 9am to receive their bag of “tools” of mental health information and a hearty breakfast from the Swan Hill Sunrise Rotary Club.
