Top of the ladder showdown

A fierce Kookaburra Cup grand final looms between the strikepower of RSL and underdogs Nyah District Demons in yet another clash for silverware.

The RSL side crashed to a grand final defeat against their Kookaburra Cup opponents and they will want to avoid a repeat of the match early in 2016.

The Demons will back themselves at home after they took the grand final and their win over RSL in the last round game of the Swan Hill and District Cricket Association season’s 2016 leg.

But RSL will head into this clash knowing they were able to nab a win against Nyah District in the opening round of the 2016-17 season, avoiding the bogey side tag.

With a strong top order at RSL, Nyah District captain Justin Toomey said his side was excited about the game and they would try to repeat what they did late in 2016 – and win.

“We have a fairly young team. Even though we have a long history with the cup, the majority of our team hasn’t won a Kookaburra yet,” he said.
