THE Swan Hill Combined Services Fishing Classic remains on course despite concerns about the fish population following the recent blackwater event.
The occurrence of blackwater, which has killed thousands of fish in the Murray River, has made “fisherman wary and may have scared them off entering”, yet Fishing Classic organising committee member Bill Gurnett said fish remain healthy between Torrumbarry and The Junction.
At the end of the fishing classic, $5000 worth of yellowbelly and Murray cod fingerlings will be released back into the river as is the custom.
To register your interest, contact Murray Ray on 0409 215 755, David McCallum on 0407 548 741 or Colin McAlpine on 0428 758 659.
