RSL remains on top of the Swan Hill District Cricket Association A Grade ladder thanks to a five-wicket win over Swan Hill on Saturday.
Electing to bat first after winning the toss on their home pitch, RSL pulled together 5-184 from their allocated 40 overs.
Round 12 contests were shortened to limited overs after a heat-out policy was enforced on what was supposed to be the opening day of the two-day round last weekend.
Ryan Hinton made five quick boundaries on his way to 54 runs while wicketkeeper Stuart Patterson scored 24 runs thanks in part to four boundaries.
Travis Perry was the best in the Swan Hill attack, taking two wickets for 35.
Swan Hill failed to make any impact on the scoreboard and were all out for 93 runs from 36 overs.
The fourth-placed side saw two of its middle order batsmen walk to the sheds with a duck struck next to their names.
Alan Hatcher was bowled out as he faced his first ball.
The best for Swan Hill with the willow was Adam Thomson, who made 25 runs off 40 balls.
Brenton Caldwell took three wickets for just nine runs with three maiden overs as RSL struck with fierce domination.
Caldwell’s right hand man was Cameron Cook (4-28).
Meanwhile at Ken Harrison Reserve, St Mary’s Tyntynder defeated Ultima TUF by 11 runs to cement their place in the run home to the finals in two weeks time.
Batting first, the Bulldogs were bowled out for 110 (31 overs), with Jared Halligan making the only impact on his side’s scoreboard with 44 runs.
Ultima TUF’s Ryan Callaghan was the best in the attack, taking four wickets from 11 runs, while Jason Baird took 3-19.
Ultima TUF’s top order was on point in the run chase; they amassed 48 runs between the opening batsmen, Ryan Callaghan (20) and Tyson Taverna (28).
But the side quickly fell away to be all out for 99.
The Bulldog’s Zac Wemyss was the best of the attack, taking 3-32.
In the other A Grade match, Nyah District chased Woorinen’s opening innings score of 120, and did it within 24 overs – just over half of its allocated 40 overs.
Nyah District made 2-122 but the performance of the match came from the hands of Ben Sheridan who took 6-9 from 7.4 overs.
