Lions seek future leaders

The Swan Hill Lions Club is looking to start a Leo Club and is calling on local young people to get involved.

The Leo Club will be targeted towards young people in Years 9 to 11 with an interest in helping the community and taking on leadership roles.

Swan Hill Lions Club president Vince Musico said the club had wanted to introduce a Leo Club in Swan Hill for about a year.

“It would be a great experience for them,” Mr Musico said.

“Hopefully kids can get involved, get out there and help their local community.”

Club member Ann Rowe will be the adviser of the Leo Club if it gets up and running.

She said the Leo Club would operate in the same format as the Lions Club with an elected committee and regular meetings.

“The Leos will probably start meeting once a month just to start off,” Ms Rowe said.

“They are traditionally for young people aged between 14 and 30, but we’re aiming for a younger age group to start with because we want the members to have similar interests.”

For information about becoming a founding member of the Swan Hill Leo Club, contact Ann Rowe on 0430 191 922.
