Women unite for international day

The Swan Hill branch of Business and Professional Women (BPW) celebrated International Women’s Day at their monthly meeting on Wednesday night.

Embracing an Indian theme throughout the evening, members were encouraged to dress in multicultural clothes and celebrate different heritages.

A traditional International Women’s Day candle lighting ceremony was held to commemorate BPW members and women worldwide.

Guest speaker Archana Patney spoke about her life journey and women’s struggles in her birth country of India.

The Sunrise Rotary Club president and teacher said she faced many challenges when she first came to Australia.

“I am definitely a friend of BPW and consider it a part of me,” Mrs Patney said.
