There will be more than personal gain on the line for Zipping Hooch and trainer Matt Lanigan at tonight’s Launching Pad Group 2 final at Sandown.
As the Swan-Hill based trainer prepares for one of the biggest races in his short career, the drive to see Hooch cross the line first is driven by more than the $150,000 on offer.
Five percent of any winnings taken from the race will be donated to family friend Declan Foott who is currently riding from Melbourne to Darwin to raise funds for cancer prevention.
“We want ‘H’ [Zipping Hooch] to win for us but it would be great to donate a good amount of money to someone that is leading such a great cause,” Lanigan said.
“Hopefully, everyone can get behind Hooch and he can win for everyone out there.”
