Three drink drivers caught in one night
POLICE allegedly caught three drink drivers within a seven hour period in Balranald over the weekend.
Officers pulled over a 39-year-old Victorian woman on Market Street about 6.45pm on Saturday.
The woman provided a breath test which indicated a positive reading to alcohol.
She was arrested and conveyed to Balranald Police Station where she returned a breath analysis reading of 0.115.
Her licence was suspended and she was charged with mid-range drink driving.
Five hours later, police pulled over a 21-year-old male driver at 11.45pm as he drove on Church Street.
He returned a positive breath test and was arrested and conveyed to the station where he returned a breath analysis reading of 0.104.
His licence was also suspended.
A 26-year-old man returned a positive breath test after he was pulled over on We Street about 1.35am on Sunday.
He was also arrested and taken to Balranald police station where he returned a breath analysis reading of 0.149.
He was charged with mid-range drink driving and had his licence suspended.
All three accused will appear in Hay Court on May 15.
Bushwalkers rescued at Yanga
TWO male bushwalkers had to be rescued after spending five days lost in the Yanga region without water.
The men, aged 32 and 25, set out for a bushwalk in Yanga, near Balranald, on April 1, intending to hike from lake to lake in the area and camp at each location.
However, contrary to information they received, many of the lakes they visited were dry.
By April 5, without water, they contacted police who located them and returned them to Balranald where they were provided water.
Neither men required medical attention.
Golf cart stolen at Barham
A GOLF cart worth more than $9000 was allegedly stolen from the Barham Golf Club on Sunday.
Unknown offenders stole the cart from near the entrance of the course on Moulamein Road, sometime between 8am and 6pm.
Police said it was a grey and blue coloured Ezygo brand with the number 29 on the front.
