A SWAN Hill man has been arrested and charged after he allegedly held up a drive-through bottle shop on Sunday night.
The 21-year-old man handed himself into the Swan Hill police station just after 12 noon yesterday.
A disguised offender entered the Bottle-O store on Campbell Street through the front door about 9pm and demanded that the attendant, who was uninjured, open the cash register after he failed to open it.
Swan Hill crime investigation unit Detective Sergeant Steve Mitchell said the heavyset offender was armed with what appeared to be a long-bladed knife or machete.
He fled on foot with a significant amount of cash, which is yet to be recovered.
The accused was bailed, with strict daily reporting to police and curfew restrictions, to appear at Swan Hill Magistrates’ Court on May 23.
