Woman injured in alleged hit and run

Swan Hill police are seeking any witnesses to a hit and run in Nyah which left a woman with fractures to her lower leg and vertebrae late last month.

The 59-year-old was struck by a motorbike around 7.40pm on April 22 while crossing the Murray Valley Highway, 100 metres south of the Shell Service Station.

The rider of the motorbike swerved off the road after colliding with the woman before continuing north towards Wood Wood.

The rider did not stop to assist the woman or exchange details.

Constable Toby Gilmore said police wanted to speak with anyone who who might have information in relation to the incident or who may have information on the rider of the motorbike.

“It would be best if the rider comes in and speaks to police,” he said.

The motorbike was described as having a dull front headlamp and is believed to have been a road/trail four stroke bike.

Police would also like to speak to the driver of a small utility which was immediately in front of the motorbike rider at the time of the incident.

If you have any information contact Swan Hill Police Station on 5036 1600 or call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
