Don’t lose hope

Federal Member for Mallee Andrew Broad has labelled the behaviour of Liberal Party MPs last week as “less than inspiring”, but urged voters not to give up on democracy.

“I think democracy is a very special thing,” he said.

“I want people to believe in democracy, it has given us amazing prosperity and amazing freedoms, we are the 12th biggest economy in the world with only 25 million people.”

Mr Broad said while he understood the electorate’s frustration, democracy wasn’t dead.

“I think it has been less than inspiring to the Australian people (behaviour of Liberal MPs),” he said.

“But, don’t give up on democracy, because it has and will continue to deliver freedom and prosperity and an amazing standard of living, continue to be involved.”
