A fourth-generation drought-stricken farmer in the Clare district is desperate for assistance, with little profit being made on their cattle and sheep.
Kathleen Harris and her husband Zack live at Harts Horn Station property in the Clare/Darnick area.
Mrs Harris has reached out to charities and other government agencies, and the media, with little response, apart from the local MP, who had been supportive.
She thanked the Swan Hill community that supported the family with the sale of hay but said “others haven’t been so lucky because of the isolation factor”.
“If the community all put their hand up for some form of help from these charities, we may get something in return,” she said.
“Because, the aim of the charities is to help every farmer in Australia that is in drought conditions.”
The couple have more than 4500 livestock to farm and feed, with a head count of 4500 merino ewes and about 120 cattle.
