Petition is presented: Campaign reaches Spring Street

A PETITION for a new hospital in Swan Hill is now in the hands and minds of Spring Street’s decision makers.

The petition containing more than 3000 signatures was handed over to Victorian Nationals leader Peter Walsh and Shadow Minister for Health Mary Wooldridge on Monday morning.

The petition is expected to be presented in the Legislative Assembly by the Member for Murray Plains either today or tomorrow.

Television cameras and journalists descended on the Swan Hill Needs a New Hospital committee as they presented the petition on a 1900s Swan Hill hospital cane wheelchair.

Committee chairman Les McPhee previously said the petition was a major milestone in the community’s campaign for a new hospital, and would ensure the message was heard by both sides and all levels of government.
