MURRAY DOWNS
SOCIAL bowls last Thursday was won by Teresa Furnell, Dawn Deighton and Neville Martin, with the lucky number not won, so the jackpot continues to next week.
The members on duty next week are Teresa Furnell and Noelene Weir.
The pizza night organised by the social club was a great success, with many members getting dressed up, David Uebergang winning the best-dressed male and Betty Fox the best-dressed female.
A reminder of our Melbourne Cup Day tournament this Tuesday, which will be an any-combination, three-bowl triples, consisting of three games of seven ends.
This is a casual dress event, with sweeps to be run on the day for the Cup and raffle prizes to be won.

As the Cup is on our Tuesday pennant day, the midweek pennant competition is being played on Wednesday next week.

The committee would like to provide advance notice of a dinner for all Murray Downs members and partners to honour our four champion bowlers of Josh, “Buck”, John and Garry.
This will be held on Wednesday, November 29, from 6pm at the Swan Hill Club function room.

RACECOURSE
JACKPOT bowls was played on a pleasant afternoon and attracted a good field on Wednesday.
Winners, with two wins and +11 shots, were Glenn McIntosh, Dawn Doran and Nevin Green, while in second place, with one win and +6 shots, were Allan Lindsay, Tony Evans and Ken Duthie.
Night bowls was well attended this week, with the winners being Puds Possums, which comprises Tyson Donaczy, Steve Hovenden and Bob Hovenden, after they won both their matches and finished on +21 shots.
Good luck to all our members who are playing in the Regional Round Robin on Sunday at the Murray Downs Bowls Club.

SWAN HILL
MELBOURNE Cup Day is this Tuesday and there will be plenty of action at the Swan Hill Bowls Club.
You may enter sweeps for the big race from 11.30am, with a chicken and salad buffet lunch available, along with a free glass of bubbly or orange juice and a choice of sweets for $25.
There will be bowls after lunch for anyone who wishes to play, with a $5 entry fee, and will be finished in time to watch the running of the cup, with afternoon tea to follow.
It would be appreciated if members could please provide a plate of afternoon tea.
All are welcome, including any visitors that would like to come along for the day.
Last Saturday was not a good day for Swan Hill’s pennant bowlers, as we were unable to claim a rink across all three divisions, although the Division 1 and 2 teams enjoyed the hospitality of Murray Downs and Manangatang respectively.
Division 4 were pleased to finally have a game of pennant, playing Racecourse 5 after having many weeks cancelled due to forfeits.
Tomorrow, our Division 1 team will play Nyah District at home, while our Division 2 side will face off against Racecourse 2, also at home, with both teams hoping for a much better result this weekend.
Team four are away to Lake Boga 4, which will be a new experience now that Division 4 has reverted to two-bowl triples.
Midweek pennant was an exciting day for Division 1 at Lake Boga, with Swan Hill winning both rinks and giving us our first win.
Unfortunately, Division 2 had their first loss against Racecourse 3.
Friday Frolic commences at 3pm today, please have your entries in by 2.30pm, we welcome new players and visitors wishing to join in this friendly game and the social activities in the clubhouse during the afternoon.
Some of our caravan travellers and cup day visitors will no doubt be attending.
The Swan Hill Bowls Club hosted the MVPA state singles last Sunday, with some top-class bowls providing plenty of entertainment for the many spectators.
Brian Quaife put in an excellent performance, winning three games, and will play in the semi-finals to be held at the Swan Hill Bowls Club on Sunday, November 12.
Kessada Smith also proceeded to the second round, after playing top bowls to defeat Teresa Furnell in the first round, before just going down by two shots against Lyndal Taylor after a gruelling 31 ends.
LAKE BOGA
OUR Division 1 pennant bowls team had a close game against Nyah District last week, with the final result not clear until the last end of the day.
Danny Kelly, Anthony Shields, “Bones” Smith and Greg Clifford were up by 13 shots, while Peter Philp, Helen Jobling, Leo Swan and Ron Atkinson were also up by 10 shots.
Ken Hamill, John McCormack, Ian Ross and Grant Davies went down by 18 shots, giving us an overall win of five shots.
Our Division 3 side against Tooleybuc saw Lake Boga come home seven shots up at the end of play.
Peter Snell, Sally Meehan, Leigh Kingsbury and Max Parsons went down by nine shots, while Terry Haw, Garry Cowland, Janet Hamill and Noel Hender went down, but by four shots.
The standout rink of the day consisted of David Condy, Marie O’Meara, Kane Kendall and Keith Anderson, who finished the day 20 shots up, while Division 4 had a bye.

Division 2 saw Lake Boga win against Manangatang by six shots in a very close match all day.

LAST Saturday, Tooleybuc played at home against Lake Boga 2, with a much-improved effort made by all players resulting in Tooleybuc winning two out of the three rinks.
Unfortunately, the shots up were not able to cover the loss of the third rink, resulting in Lake Boga winning on the day by seven shots.
Next week, Tooleybuc will play Racecourse 4 at Racecourse.
Midweek pennant was played at Nyah on Tuesday and Tooleybuc had a good win, winning both rinks. Next week Tooleybuc will play at home against Balranald Ex Services, with this match being played on Wednesday instead of Tuesday.
The State Singles was played at the Swan Hill Bowls Club last Sunday in very windy conditions, with some great games had by all.
Congratulations to Dannielle Adams, who has proceeded through to play in the final on November 12.
This Sunday will see the Murray Mallee Bowls Region round robin played at Murray Downs.

THE Murray Mallee Regional Round Robin event will be played at the Murray Downs Bowls Club this Sunday, with a 9am assembly and play to start at 9.30am.
In game 1, the draw is Sunraysia v Tyrrell and Murray Valley v Northern District.
At 12.30pm, Murray Valley will take on Sunraysia and Northern District faces Tyrrell.
In game 3, Northern District and Sunraysia will face off, and Tyrrell and Murray Valley do battle.
Last week’s State Singles saw Dannielle Adams (Tooleybuc) and Lyndal Taylor (Racecourse) advance to the grand final, which will be played on Sunday, November 12.
In the men’s event, the semi-finalists are Buck Lehmann (Murray Downs) v Norm Smith (Racecourse), and Brian Quaife (Swan Hill) v Martin Stephens (Moulamein).
The women’s final and men’s semi-finals will start at 9.30am at the Swan Hill Bowls Club.
