MEMBERS of Swan Hill’s Woodworkers Club have produced a real treat for their community, by lending their expertise on some tricky projects.
SHWC is one of the generous local organisations which have contributed to the upcoming not-for-profit Trick or Treat at the Trots event, donating their time and talent to complete the projects.
The group of skilled craftsmen from the club have worked on a variety of designs which will form part of two escape rooms, a series of challenges which must be solved within one hour.
President of the SHWC David Proctor said the club was always happy ” to help the community with charity projects”.
“We like to help the community when we can, especially with projects that help grow the community,” he said.
A new feature of this year’s event, the escape rooms will add an exciting activity for people 12 and older, with the choice of braving a mad scientist’s laboratory or a magical apothecary.
Tracy McLoughlan, one of the organisers of Trick or Treat at the Trots, expressed her appreciation to the SHWC and the many other contributors to the event.
“Events like this wouldn’t be able to go ahead without community support,” Ms McLoughlan said.
“We have over 60 volunteers who help run the event, and many local businesses who have been a part of what we are trying to do.
“The aim is to raise $10,000 for local charities, including the Safe Shelter From Domestic Violence Project.
“People from the community get to experience an amazing night out and also know that they are giving back at the same time.
“It’s a win-win.”
