Lake Boga set to rock and roll

THE women who deliver the Lake Boga park and brag have taken on the task of bringing the local community a rockabilly day on Saturday October 14.

From 6pm outside the Lake Boga Pub there will be a great line-up of vehicles and people are encouraged to come dressed in rockabilly-themed attire as there will be competitions for the best pin-up, greaser, mullet and tattoo.

Organisers Carly Bausch and Kathy Wilde said the interest each month in the park and brag, which is held on the third Sunday of each month, had been fantastic as the number of cars and bikes kept growing.

“Each month it has not only been more cars and bikes but also different people showing up,” Ms Wilde said.

“On the Saturday night we will have a jukebox playing all night and the pub will have meals and cold drinks available to purchase.

“We have renamed some of the menu items for the night to fit in with the rockabilly theme.

“There has been a lot of interest in the competitions and particularly the best pin-up – there have been a lot of young ladies keen so I wouldn’t mind betting that we have a lot of entrants for that one.

“We know mullets are very fashionable at the moment so we think there will be a few people looking to take out that title.

“The whole objective is to have a great fun family night.

“We would like to encourage anyone with an interest in rock and roll dancing to come along as well and join in the fun as there will be dancing in the street.”
