Murray Muster roars back to life

THE first week of October was a busy one for entertainment at the Tooleybuc Sporting Club with the return of the Murray Muster.

The event was held over three days last week, each day featuring 11 hours of live music.

Despite the rain outside the atmosphere in the venue was bright as the auditorium was full and the dance floor alive.

In all, nine artists performed sets of 20 to 30 minutes each throughout the day and the night gigs featured a live band, the Tooleybuc Tornados.

Musician and music promoter Col Thomson is the force behind the reinvigorated event.

It had been in hiatus for a while and he was asked by some friends to get it up and running again and return it to its former glory.

“It’s been well received by the people and all the artists on the program are performing great,” Mr Thomson said.

“People have come from far and wide.

“The majority of the people who are attending are not from the area, they’re not locals.

“We have one couple here from Bairnsdale in Gippsland.

“They come from a wide area and a lot of them follow the circuit of the country music shows.

“Club management here has been really supportive of the Muster.

“We are trying to build it up to its former glory and if the numbers keep growing, as they are, I will be able to crank up the other two rooms at the club as well.”

There is another coming in March, for which bands already booked in for the three days of Tuesday March 5 through to Thursday March 7.
