Boost for Mallee MRI Appeal

THE Mallee MRI Appeal has been boosted with two donations.

Murray Downs Bowls Club raised $1000 with a dress up fundraiser game during their night bowls season.Club chairperson Garry McCaig said 60 players from over 20 teams made the 10-week competition possible.

“We have many volunteers from our Murray Downs Bowls Club helping out over the past 10 weeks in administration and the bar and players filling in,” he said.

“A big thank you on behalf of all the players to our greenskeeper Graeme Cox for presenting two greens each week.

“And thank you to the players who came throughout the 10 weeks because if we haven’t got the support of our players we don’t have a competition.”

Meanwhile, Swan Hill Conveyancing Services donated $3000.

Owner Sharnie Kelly said the organisation was excited to contribute to such a worthy cause.

“We are very grateful for the support we have had from Swan Hill and District and wanted to pass on that support to the community,” she said.

“Just in our office alone it will save half the term regular trips to Bendigo and Melbourne for MRI scans so having the service available here would such a great asset to our local area.”

Outgoing Swan Hill District Health chief executive Peter Abraham said it has been amazing to watch the community rally around the Mallee MRI Appeal.

“Having the community led by Paula Starrs and the appeal has really driven this campaign, which will provide necessary equipment that many people throughout our community will need,” he said.
