Mallee Eagles fly into finals

THE Mallee Eagles have consolidated their spot in the finals with a comfortable 44-goal win over Cohuna.

The Eagles were at the top of their game against the struggling Kangas side, continuing to lift their intensity and defensive pressure each quarter to secure their win.

Kangas coach Meg Dye said while their season didn’t go as planned, she and the whole team had been able to walk away knowing they did they best the could.

“Our last game came with a lot of emotion due to the toughness of the season,” she said.

“We wanted to enjoy it and make the most of the game – yes, we were playing a quality side in Mallee Eagles and we knew it was going to be a tough day, but we all held our heads high.”

The Eagles will go up against Balranald in the elimination final at Swan Hill this weekend.
