Roos hopping into 2024

BALRANALD’S dream of breaking their 14-year premiership drought received a boost last week, with the club announcing the re-signing of current coach Jydon Neagle for a further two seasons.

Neagle will be joined in the role by Tom Lister in a co-coaching capacity.

The pair are set to lead the Roos until the end of the 2025 season and will follow last year’s leadership model, in which Neagle was joint coach alongside Ben Mahon.

Balranald sit second on the Central Murray senior ladder and are seen as the team most likely to challenge reigning premiers Kerang for this year’s premiership.

Beasy moves on

SWAN Hill will be on the lookout for a new coach next season, with the club announcing current senior coach Cal Beasy will be stepping down at the completion of the Swans 2023 campaign.

Beasy, who led Swan Hill to their 2008 premiership, stepped back into the hot seat at the end of last season, replacing Matthew Wade and Darcy Ryan as senior coach.

“In recent years, Cal has shared his wealth of knowledge with junior footballers, many of whom have been given the opportunity to play senior football this year under his leadership,” the club said in a statement on its social media platforms.

“This year, a big focus has been to elevate work rate and commitment within the senior playing group, which Cal has been able to achieve and will hopefully set the boys and the club up for future success.”

Daniels out

FORMER Nyah-Nyah West United player and current GWS small forward Brent Daniels will miss the Giants’ Sunday match against Port Adelaide after accepting a one-match suspension from the AFL match review officer on Monday.

Daniels was charged with rough conduct following the Giants’ 11-point loss to Sydney on Saturday night, after collecting Swan Jake Lloyd high when contesting a loose ball.

The incident was graded as careless conduct, with medium impact and high contact.
