THERE were plenty of winners at last Saturday’s Pelican Jackpot social bowls.

With two-game wins, the highest winning margin was from the team of Brian Quaffe and Phil Parry. In second place, after losing their first game and winning their second game, with the highest margin were Nev Graham, Leigh Kingsbury and Peter Philip.

Resting-touchers vouchers were given to Garry Cowland, Connie Rovere, Danny Mitchell and Kevin Vivian.

The big winners for the day claimed the jackpot of $420, shared between Mick Tempini, Bob McIntosh, Terry Haw, Barbara Davies and Max Renney.

The jackpot returns tomorrow at $90.

Members were saddened to hear of the passing of two long-term members, Mary Burns and Eric Butcher. The club sends condolences to both families.

Social bowl winners on Wednesday, with two wins and plus 22, were Mick Tempini, Leigh Kingsbury and Jean Leach

Runners-up with two wins and plus eight were Terry Haw, Amber Moynihan and Bones Smith.

An invitation is extended to any bowlers to join opening day on Saturday, September 2. Single and team entries are welcome for two-bowls triples.


Racecourse

AUGUST 6 was the Autobarn Triples with 24 teams from around the area.

The winners were Shane Domaille, Don Poulton and Brian Warren with three wins and plus 77 points.

The runners-up were David Jonkers, Elizabeth Renney and Mike Grace with three wins and 76 points.

In third place, with three wins and only 75 points, were D.J. Weaver, Faye Devereux and Rob Rust.

Jackpot bowls on Wednesday had 42 starters with Norm Smith, Don Poulton and Peter Scott winning on two wins and plus 20 shots.

Runners-up, with one win and plus six shots, were Rob Hayes, Kaye Roberts and Noel Delmenico (Murray Downs).

Sunday, August 20, will be the Ash Roberts Homes any-combination triples with a 12.30pm start. The club will have a pop-up bowls shop from Shepparton at the club on that day.


Swan Hill

SWAN Hill Bowls Club will hold the opening day tournament, in conjunction with RSL Diggers Day, on Sunday, August 27.

There will be an RSL stand-to at noon, with play to begin at 12.30pm.

The format will be any-combination triples, three games of 10 ends. Entry is $45 per team, $15 a single entry includes afternoon tea.

Prizemoney of $1000 on offer for first, second and third, plus money back for the best winning team each game.

Proceeds from the raffle will be donated to RSL Legacy. Bring a plate of afternoon tea.

Swan Hill bowlers will travel to Quambatook on Sunday, August 20. Enter at the club and check for details.

Friday Frolic will be in action today, have your name entered or be there by 2.30pm for a 3pm start.

Enjoy a friendly game of bowls and social activities in the club. Bowlers and non-bowlers are welcome.
