Top three victorious

Murrabit 53 d Wandella 40

EVERYTHING went according to script for Murrabit at the weekend, securing a 13-goal win over Wandella.

The Bombers came out firing in the opening term to push the Blues and trail by just one goal at the quarter time break, with Aimee Sinclair and Erin McKean having to lock down on the Bombers’ attacking end, as they shot five of the first six goals of the match.

It was the closest the margin would get for the day, with Murrabit’s classy attack end standing up when it was needed to claim victory.

Wandella, who are now well and truly out of finals contention, must find something over the next few weeks if they are to taste victory again in 2023.

Moulamein 64 d Hay 39

MOULAMEIN have bounced back from their loss to Macorna last weekend with a comfortable 25-goal win over Hay.

The return of Maddy Wild was much needed for the Swans, with Wild shooting 43 goals.

Hay’s Ellen Jamieson was just as impressive at the other end of the court for the Lions, however, shooting 32 of her team’s 39 goals, while Matika Mitchell was again impressive for the Swans.

Hay, even though they are set to be the league’s wooden spooners, are certainly no easy-beats and will be a team to watch not only over the final three rounds of 2023, but also in years to come.

Macorna 48 d Ultima 33

MACORNA have continued their winning form, beating Ultima at home by 15 goals.

The Tigers led all game, with the second-quarter defensive dominance of Erin Delahunty and Holly Griffiths keeping the Roos to just six goals.

Ultima’s Tayla Foster was attacking hard for the Roos, but inaccuracy in goals would ultimately see her work go unrewarded.

There was some hope for Ultima in the third quarter, as their defensive efforts grew, however the Tigers again delivered a strong fourth-quarter performance to get them over the line by 15, the largest margin between these two for the season.
