Community grants set to open

APPLICATIONS for two council community grant funding streams will open on April 28.

Swan Hill Council director of development and planning Michelle Grainger announced that community groups and organisations will soon be able to apply for up to $5000 through the community development fund and event support fund and contributions programs.

“Council values the contributions that our community, sporting and not-for-profit groups and organisations make to our community, and this is one of the ways council supports these contributions,” Ms Grainger said.

The community development fund assists eligible community groups and organisations in undertaking a variety of projects.

“Last year, many community groups received funding from the program for building updates, new equipment, and many more diverse projects across our municipality,” she said.

The event support fund recognises the benefits of events to our community and municipality, including tourism and the local economy.

“The event support fund provides assistance to new and existing local events that offer social and economic benefits to our communities,” Ms Grainger said.

This year, applications will be processed through the SmartyGrants platform.

“The transition to the SmartyGrants platform will provide a more user-friendly system, and we are excited for our applicants to use it,” Ms Grainger said.

Applications close on May 26.
