Footy and netball still going well

THE Mighty Swans continued on their winning way again this week.

The footballers came out of the blocks, keeping Wandella to zero in the first quarter and only four points at half time.

Unfortunately, there was a nasty clash just before half time between one of our players and one of theirs. They were both going for the ball and bang, they collided. Our player got shouldered off.

The Wandella fella unfortunately ended up with a broken leg and was stretchered off. Bugger. No one wants to see that. Let’s hope he has a bit of sick leave up his sleeve.

Our players went off their game a bit after that and Wandella made a good comeback and we only got up by 13 points. It was 12 on the radio. But 13 on the umpire’s card.

The Mighty Swans go into next week with a 4-0 record. So does Ultima and we travel there to do battle next week. Should be a good game.

Our A Grade netballers are also four from four. B Grade had a win as well.

Hopefully I will see you at the footy this week, but the rugrats are coming for a visit on Saturday, so I have to do a time schedule.

Bee swarms

MY young fella Richard has started his new enterprise in beekeeping.

If you happen to have a swarm of bees land somewhere around your property, give Dicko a call on 0417 872 496 and he will come and remove it for you.

He may even give you a jar of honey once he gets established.

My suspicion is that he knows I am allergic to bees so he is trying to get rid of me.

Vintage car club visit

THERE was a good roll-up of people to the Swan Hill Vintage Car Club event and some very impressive cars to go with them.

I hope our Gallery mob fed them well and they enjoyed the day. I met a few of them and I hope you all put Moulamein into your list as places to go back to.

Frog races

AFTER seeing how quick our southern bell frogs are, I started to think. Maybe we can get a permit?

We can take our giant rare bell frogs from down here up north to challenge these cane toads that they race up there. A different State Of Origin.

I am sure we would be on a winner if we could get through the red tape of taking an alleged endangered species out of its area.

They are not endangered around here as we all know but they are still on the top 100 endangered list in our great country.

It was then that I remembered the time I got into snail racing. I found this fast snail and trained it up to be the fastest snail in the country.

I named my snail Sammy as I did not know its sex and I did not want to put pressure on my snail to decide its sex.

Sammy was a very fast snail. We trained together for weeks to get Sammy up to peak fitness.

I polished Sammy’s shell so there was less wind resistance. But I still reckoned I could get Sammy to go faster if I removed the shell to stop the wind resistance. I consulted with my snail vet and she said it could be done with a permit.

Permission was granted and we got Sammy’s shell removed to make Sammy go faster. Unfortunately, it did not work. It just made Sammy sluggish.

I will keep working on my idea of beating these cane toads in a jump-off if we can get the permit.

Millet help

I AM just grasping at straws at the moment.

We decided to grow a bit of millet this year because of the water situation. We are having trouble finding someone that can dry it for us.

If by any chance you know someone that dries a bit of grain and can handle a few loads of millet to dry, please give me a call on 0428 875 956.

River levels

OUR Edward has finally started to steady at about 1.25 metres and 930 megs a day.

There is more than 1000 megs below Stephens Weir and still more than 500 megs coming down the Billabong, so our Edward should start to rise again. This may get the fish moving as it is very quiet at the moment.
