Riverside Park events a huge success

RIVERSIDE Park has been abuzz over the past two months, with a multitude of events drawing tourists and locals.

Thousands have visited the riverfront since the beginning of March, according to Swan Hill Rural City Council.

Mayor Cr Les McPhee said this built on the success of the annual food and wine festival that saw 2,200 attendees.

“The following weekend RockWiz was held at the Sound Shell at Riverside Park, community and visitors again heading out to embrace another fantastic event with 900 people attending,” he said.

“March was then seen out with a hugely successful community day event, Harmony Day at the Riverside Park. The event saw record breaking attendance with over 3000 people attending.”

But the influx of visitors to the park didn’t end with the start of April, seeing the start of the Yana Waingi sound and light show.

Mr McPhee said the event had been an overwhelming success.

“Yana Waingi saw a whopping 8,800 locals and visitors across the ten nights,” he said. “With visitors coming from as far as Western Australia.

“The attendance was complemented with many raving reviews on how spectacular the display was.”

The success of the events wasn’t a surprise to Mr McPhee, who understands how much work goes into getting them to run smoothly.

“A huge thank you to all those who played a part in pulling off such spectacular events for the community, and those who ventured out to enjoy them,” he said.

Anyone wanting to keep up to date with upcoming events in the municipality can visit the Swan Hill Rural City Council website.
